FREE TOOL · RUNS IN YOUR BROWSER
Convert PDF bank statements to Excel or CSV
Drop the PDF your bank gave you and download every transaction as a spreadsheet. The statement is read in your browser and never leaves your device.
Parsing is automatic and runs in your browser. Check the totals against the original statement before using the data in your books.
HOW IT WORKS
From PDF to spreadsheet in three steps
1
Drop the PDF
Use the PDF statement from your online banking or banking app. If it has a password, the converter asks for it.
2
Review the table
Every transaction shows its date, description, amount and balance. Untick rows you don't want and flip the sign of any amount if needed.
3
Download
Excel to analyse, CSV to import into accounting software, budgeting apps or another spreadsheet.
FORMATS
Pick the file that fits the job
Excel (.xlsx)
Dates and amounts are real numbers, ready to sum, filter and pivot. The header row stays frozen.
CSV
Comma separated, decimal point and ISO dates (YYYY-MM-DD), which import cleanly into most accounting and budgeting tools.
STATEMENT LAYOUTS
Reads how banks actually print statements
- Separate debit and credit columns, such as Withdrawals and Deposits or Paid out and Paid in
- A single amount column with minus signs, parentheses or DR/CR markers
- Sections such as Deposits and Additions or Electronic Withdrawals, each followed by its rows
- Dates like 01/15, 15/01/2024, 2024-01-15, 15 Jan 2024 or Jan 15, 2024
- A running balance column, used to tell money in from money out when nothing else does
Opening, closing and daily balance rows and section totals stay out of the spreadsheet.
BEFORE YOU USE THE DATA
Parsing is automatic. Checking is on you.
- Compare the money in and money out totals with the original statement
- Check outlined amounts: the PDF didn't say whether they were money in or out
- Untick any summary rows your bank's layout let through
- Make sure descriptions that wrap onto two lines in the PDF came through whole
Have a statement from a Brazilian bank? The Portuguese version also exports OFX and handles Brazilian layouts.
FAQ
About the bank statement converter
Is my bank statement uploaded anywhere?
No. Your browser opens and reads the PDF, and builds the spreadsheet too. No transaction, name or account number reaches our server. You can check in your browser's Network tab: no request carries the file. We only record anonymous usage metrics, such as the number of transactions and the format downloaded.
Which banks does it work with?
The converter has no per-bank templates. It looks for what account statements have in common: a date at the start of each row, amounts with two decimals, minus signs, parentheses or DR/CR markers, debit, credit and balance columns, and section headings such as Deposits or Withdrawals. When a layout doesn't fit, the table shows what was read and you decide what to export.
How does it handle DD/MM and MM/DD dates?
If any date in the statement can only be read one way, such as 25/03, the converter uses that order. If every date works both ways, it defaults to MM/DD and tells you, and you can switch the date format before downloading.
Why are some amounts outlined?
When the PDF has no sign, DR/CR marker, debit column, section heading or running balance that shows whether money came in or went out, the amount is kept as money in and gets a dashed outline. Click it to flip it. Before downloading, compare the money in and money out totals with the original statement.
My statement is password protected. Will it work?
Yes. The converter asks for the password and only uses it to open the PDF in your browser. It is not stored or sent anywhere.
Can it convert scanned statements or photos?
No. The converter reads the text your bank writes into the PDF. A scanned or photographed statement is an image with no text to read. Download the PDF from your online banking instead.
